Two ECE graduate students, Jeonghyun Lee (left, advisor: Prof. Jaehyouk Choi) and Jaeyeon Yu (right, advisor: Prof. Jongwon Lee) have been selected as recipients of a 2018 Global Ph.D. Fellowship Program (GPF).

Launched in 2011, the GPF is the most competitive nationwide fellowship program provided by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) to recognize and support talented graduate students who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees.

Jeonghyun’s and Jaeyeon’s research proposals are entitled “Development of target-element-adaptive self-sustaining environment Internet of things (IoT) sensor platforms” and “Development of Nonlinear Metasurfaces for Next-Generation Ultra Broadband Mid-Infrared Light Source”, respectively.

In this year, the NRF selected 257 students from 1356 nationwide applicants, and UNIST produced 20 awardees.
