ECE Colloquium: Hwasup Lim(KIST) “Recent Advances and Trends in Real-time 3D Hand Tracking: A Review”
Speaker : Hwasup Lim
Real-time 3D hand tracking is now an essential technology for AR and VR applications. It is, however, a very difficult task because high accuracy and speed are required from the limited observations and computing resources. This seminar examines the methodologies of 3D hand tracking from the early stage to the recent state-of-the-art techniques to see how they overcome these difficulties and what remaining problems are.
Hwasup Lim received his PhD degree in electrical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2007. He was a R&D staff member at the Advanced Media Lab, Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) from 2007 to 2011, where his research focused on TOF depth image processing, and 3D human modeling and tracking. He is currently a principal research scientist at the Center for Imaging Media Research, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). His research interests include RGBD image-based human modeling and tracking.
