Abstract:
This talk will look back on the match between Lee Sedol and AlphaGo, focusing on the scenes where its operating principles and features are well exposed. We will discuss what implications it has on the history of artificial intelligence research and how to best exploit its technologies.
Bio:
Dong Gun Kam received the B.S. degree in physics with a double major in electrical engineering, the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering, all from KAIST, Daejeon, Korea in 2000, 2002, and 2006, respectively. From 2007 to 2011, he worked at the IBM Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA, concentrating on the subsystem design and analysis of high-speed links. In 2011, he joined Ajou University, Suwon, Korea. His research interests include artificial intelligence and high-performance computing systems. Dr. Kam is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology. He was a recipient of the 2008 DesignCon Paper Award; a recipient of the 2011 Pat Goldberg Memorial Award for the best paper in CS, EE, and Math within IBM Research; and a recipient of the 2013 CPMT Outstanding Young Engineer Award.
