ECE NEEDs’ paper accepted at Joint Session of 2019 IEEE VLSI Symposium focused by both Technology and Circuits

The paper authored by ECE graduate students of NEEDs Lab., E-San Jang (advisor: Prof. Kyung Rok Kim), “Record-High Performance Trantenna based on Asymmetric Nano-Ring FET for Polarization-Independent Large-Scale/Real-Time THz Imaging” has been accepted for presentation at the forthcoming 2019 VLSI Symposia on Technology and Circuits, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan.

This VLSI symposium is the most prestigious conference in the field of semiconductors since all the global top companies (Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm) and universities are having a keen competition. In this year, only 8 domestic papers are accepted as 4 University papers (UNIST 1, SNU 2, Postech 1) and 4 Company papers (all by Samsung) out of total 74 Technology papers. Especially, this paper is the only one included in Joint Focus Session focused by Technology and Circuits among all the accepted papers from Korea.

In this work, the record-high performance “Trantenna (transistor+antenna)” is demonstrated with polarization-independent and large-scale/real-time ‘camera-chip-level’ THz imaging results.
