Abstract:

Since the dwan of semicoductor age at 1950's, there were two basic mechanisms of cycle – the standardization and customization direction. During the standardization cycle, standard discrets, memorirs, microprocessor are domanated in the market, while the custom LSI, ASIC were dominated at the customization one. The period of cycle was around 10-15 years, now it is the time to combine two cycle due to the recent market structure. The field programmable device has the nature, that is standardized in manufacturing but customized in application. It goes well with the new trend driven by "Digital Consumer" product. The characteristitics of the DC market is very dynamic change in the product life cycle and the quick time to market. To correspond with the market, programmable logic deivce were in the maket. The seminar explain the advantage of programmable device, and techical aspect as well.
